Ozone has a characteristic smell precisely because it is chemically active. That aroma is a natural part of the ozonization process and, in addition, an indicator that the product is still working as an antimicrobial and antioxidant.
When the smell of an ozonated oil fades over time, it is signaling that the concentration of ozonides is decreasing. That is why we measure the Peroxide Index (PI) of each batch: we want certainty that what reaches your hands is still active.
Why Ozosana does not mask the smell
Conventional cosmetics often use synthetic fragrances to cover up the smell of active ingredients. This happens for an obvious commercial reason: potent active ingredients often smell "odd," and the market wants something that seems neutral or pleasant.
Ozosana follows a different logic — that of clean beauty: if the smell is the signature of the active, we do not cover it. This matters because chemical fragrances can be:
